I will start a Cherokee County Citizen's Academy. The goal of the Citizen's Academy is to build stronger community-law enforcement relations by educating residents about law enforcement operations, fostering two-way communication, and ultimately creating more informed citizens so they can better partner with law enforcement to solve neighborhood problems and promote public safety.
We will aggressively pursue drug dealers in our community. We will continue to partner with surrounding agencies, SLED, DEA, HSI, and others to take this poison off our streets. While we will be targeting these drug dealers, we will also continue programs such as Too Good for Drugs in our elementary schools. We will also expand these educational opportunities to our middle and high schools. We will use groups such as the Fentanyl Effect to help educate our youth, parents, family members, educators, and community of the dangers of Fentanyl. We also want to make the community aware that there are resources for the families that have loved ones with an addiction or have lost a loved one to an overdose.
We will continue and expand our partnerships with the Department of Mental Health, the Alcohol and Drug Commission, and similar organizations for education, treatment, and prevention. These partnerships will be in the community as well as the Detention Center to help with mental health and substance abuse issues.
We will continue to invest in our community through active engagement and impactful programs. From our annual, school supply drive and toy drive to providing snack packs for children and hosting summer camp at the Kids Club, we will remain dedicated to creating opportunities and support for families all year long.
Our community is growing rapidly, and with that growth comes both opportunity and responsibility. I am committed to ensuring that our law enforcement services grow alongside our community in a way that keeps families safe while preserving the values that make our county great. This means working with County Council to gain additional deputy positions, investing in more training and strengthening partnerships with local leaders and neighborhoods. By planning for growth today, we can ensure that our Sheriff’s Office continues policing in the 21st century using best practices.
We are successful due to the determination, hardwork and dedication of our staff, but most importantly, we are successful due to the support from YOU.
